Where History Comes Home
It's a shame that so many communities and fairs, including the PNE, have dropped youth talent contests. Maybe if we ever get our bandstand rewired and operational, it's something that we can add to our events list.

While I was working on an Aldergrove Legion music bingo playlist, I came across this video. I don't think it's been shared on our page yet, but the link to the video is in the image. I'd like to know who the young person is who was interviewed about the doings "at their lake".

Something that we have not failed to notice is how many local businesses sponsored #youthsports teams throughout the year. Many businesses sponsored a team in the "big 4" leagues - hockey, soccer, baseball and ringette. All of those businesses - past and present - should be proud of their ongoing support for these teams, some over several decades, not to mention the coaches, assistant coaches and team parents.

Stop by the Legion this afternoon for 100th anniversary celebrations and check out Festival Days this weekend. If horses are more your thing, the Region 17 Arabian Horse Show is happening up at Thunderbird.

🎂Today we would like to wish the Royal Canadian Legion a very happy 100th birthday. We are very grateful for the excellent partnership we have with our Royal Canadian Legion Branch #265, working together to remember our veterans and share their stories. We wish every Legion across Canada all the best for many more years to come. https://legion.ca/ourstory/

What better way to follow up a photo of the Class of 1976 than with one of the Class of 1977? Happy 49th to all of you, have you started planning your 50th reunion yet?

There's been some discussion elsewhere on FB about the HBC symbolism in the Township's coat of arms. By pure coincidence, I came across this article in the Aldergrove Star.

Lt. King was the lucky winner of a portable TV from Scott Paper and Super Valu. This article also serves to remind us that all of those ghost driveways along the outer edges of the Naval Radio Station once led to PMQ houses situated on the base.

Next year, the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada will be turning 130. At one time nearly every community had a Women's Institute, but their numbers have dwindled over the past few decades. We are hoping that those of you with roots in Patricia community might recognize a mom, aunt, granny or great-grandma in this Patricia WI photo.

A look back at our Township 60 years ago, when our police force had 12 officers and they finally got their own radar set. Langley Airport was the largest pilot training field in the country and Williams Park was under construction as a Centennial project for the enjoyment of Township residents.
