Something that we have not failed to notice is how many local businesses sponsored #youthsports teams throughout the year. Many businesses sponsored a team in the "big 4" leagues - hockey, soccer, baseball and ringette. All of those businesses - past and present - should be proud of their ongoing support for these teams, some over several decades, not to mention the coaches, assistant coaches and team parents.

Next year, the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada will be turning 130. At one time nearly every community had a Women's Institute, but their numbers have dwindled over the past few decades. Who remembers the Kraft Kabin? I loved that store, and I'm pretty sure that my Mom took all of the sewing and craft classes they offered. I'm also pretty sure that she gave me several of the kids' clothing patterns she bought there, when my own kids were little.
