#BuildingStories about Aldergrove's settler history can often be a challenge,...

#BuildingStories about Aldergrove's settler history can often be a challenge, especially when not all of the documents needed are available online and there isn't a family story in The Place Between, but sometimes we get just enough information to be able to confirm heritage stories that have been passed down through the years.

We have long heard that there was a community hall that was also used as a school where the hotel once stood. Here in Mr. Edward Z. Whyman's homestead application is confirmation that there was indeed a hall that had been built "for the convenience of his settler neighbours" and upon which "he made no ownership claim." As for Mr. Whyman and his family - we will tell their story another day once we have woven a tale from all the documents and information sources that have been located.
