Who remembers the Fire Safety House coming to your school? The fire department didn't have the house when I was in school, but it was always a favourite attraction for my kids. They took their "Stop, Drop and Roll" skills very seriously. My daughter also took the babysitting course that was offered both at schools and at Blair Pool.

Aldergrove saw two new businesses open in June 1976, one of which was Aldergrove Market. Many will remember Fred Boyd as an avid supporter of local youth groups, especially sports. I came across two interesting articles about the Aldergrove Hotel this morning, and for those who have debated as to when the name was changed to the Alder Inn, one of these articles has the answer. Whatever your feelings about the bar side of the hotel, you could almost always get a decent meal in the hotel's cafe/restaurant for a decent price. It's also nice that the 1967 article gives some background about the Frank family.

We can tell by looking closely at the pages of this booklet which recipes got used more than once - food residue, sticky pages, they are clues. Putting all of the clues together from the information presented in this booklet and comparing it to other known sources about Hamilton Beach, we can safely put a date range of 1953-1955 on this item.
