Behind the scenes - what we do during winter closure. We clean stuff out, appraise objects and check for documentation in preparation for assessment and we find cool things we didn't know we had.
In the first photo, volunteer directors Brenda, Sarah and Andrew are documenting objects from what we call "the work room" which will soon include a dedicated scanning station for larger items. Off camera, volunteer directors Teresa and Scott, along with new volunteer Janice were lining items up to be assessed while Jim, another new volunteer, was planning for better storage capacity in the pantry and over the tub in the washroom.
In the second photo are three vintage examples of fire fighting equipment. The one on the left is from the 1970s, while the other two are over 100 years old, manufactured in Winnipeg - one of which still had its fire suppression contents. We took …
