So much of this CBC News article applies to our own Community Museum & Archives, and if you watch the video (link below and in the image), some of the points raised by Sharon Gould also apply - out of town research requests regarding family history information and everything that happens in the community becomes a part of its story. Every time we go through a file folder, a box or a drawer we are finding pieces of Aldergrove's history and connecting dots that add to the narrative.
It is our hope that if you support and enjoy the results of the process, you will support the society by becoming a member and a volunteer. We are at an important cusp in our development as a volunteer society and our little band of 7 could really use the help. There are decisions to be made, projects to implement (or not implement as the case may be), and whether you have 4, 8 or even more hours in a month to assist, whether it's at the museum or working on projects at home (this part entails some in-museum tasks before the work can be done at home), we probably have a spot for you. Please consider getting involved in helping us share the stories.
Side note, we also have to address some building maintenance issues so if that's of more interest to you, those projects are included on the discussion board.
