Post WW2, 53 BC farmers experienced the luck of the draw when their names were chosen to receive an army surplus truck to use in their farming operations. Note - the trucks were not free, the farmers had to send $330.00 in with their entry - 600 entries were received. The other catch was that they were right-hand drive. Some of the winners were from Fort Langley, Langley Prairie, Milner, Aldergrove, Mount Lehman and Abbotsford, with a "spare" winner from Coghlan. The farmers whose names were not chosen got their deposit money returned.
