Today we're looking back at the opening of Aldergrove's first Legion branch in 1966. The first Legion was at the eastern edge of town, at 27279 Fraser Highway, and it was from there that our current Royal Canadian Legion Branch #265, Aldergrove BC building was born. Many of you may not know this, but your local Legion provides financial support to many community events and groups, including this society, and for that we are very grateful.
In addition to being Day 5 of Veterans' Week, today is also World Digital Preservation Day, and it is through the assistance of the BC History Digitization Programme that we were able to digitally preserve the Aldergrove Star Oct 1957 - Dec 2000, enabling us to able to share so many stories about our community's history. Thanks are also due to Gulf & Fraser for providing the funds needed to update and equip the digitization lab in your #communitymuseum so that we may digitally preserve the many photographs, negatives, documents and stories in our #communityarchives.
